New York City Pride 200

This year’s march commemorates the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall riots, which erupted after a police raid on a gay bar, the Stonewall Inn on Christopher St., in 1969, the riots, which launched the gay-rights movement, gave birth to the annual march which now includes 170 floats, thousands of marchers and large crowds of supporters.

Hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers marched on Sunday in a New York's annual Gay Pride Parade honouring the anniversary. While the LGBT community of today has a lot to celebrate, the quest for equality continues, with the parade acting as a demonstration in support of same-sex marriage.
